Description
SABATTI MERCURY TLD WHITE FLUTED .308Win LL 28'' / 71cm
Match rifle in an extraordinary design.
*Wide fore-end - ideal for shooting from a rest.
*28'' long fluted match barrel with muzzle thread 5/8-24'' UNEF
The Sabatti TLD is predestined for precise shots at the longest distances.
It can be used both as a competition rifle and as a reliable hunting companion. The barrels are cold hammer forged and feature Sabatti's MRR barrel profile. The MRR barrel profile favors, among other things, a higher bullet velocity, increases precision and leads to less barrel wear compared to conventional barrel profiles. The height of the buttstock can be individually adjusted. The action and barrel have a Cerakote coating. The new laminated wood stock is particularly robust and insensitive.
The multi-radial barrel profile (MRR®)
When comparing a traditional barrel with a polygonal barrel and the multi-radial barrel, the latter is ideal for both traditional and solid bullets.
With multi-radial barrels, two different radii alternate, giving the bullet a geometrically positive hold without putting too much strain on it. In fact, the bullets are pressure-molded to follow the circumference and are not cut as in a traditional barrel, which extends the service life of the barrel. Furthermore, there are no sharp corners like in the other barrel systems where debris collects, keeping the barrel cleaner and reducing wear.
All tests that have been carried out show: Multiradial barrels shoot better and more accurately with conventional lead bullets and with solid bullets in cal. 7.62 mm (.308) and cal. 6.5 mm (.264) than traditionally shaped ones.
At standard pressure values, the exit velocity is higher than with the conventional barrel - up to 12% under certain circumstances. The bullet seals the barrel bore better so that no gas can escape to the front, which optimizes the effect of the drive energy. In addition, the friction between the bullet and the barrel is reduced to a minimum.
The spatial arrangement has been further improved due to the extremely tight production tolerances that must be adhered to when manufacturing multiradial barrels. The multiradial barrel is ideally suited to the cold forging process. The consistency of the barrel profile produced is excellent and the overall quality of the barrels has been improved.
The special barrel geometry of the barrel shoulder in multiradial barrels enables more precise and continuous guidance of the bullet through the chamber neck and bullet bore than is the case with conventional barrel systems - the bullet hits the barrel bore in the best possible way, which reduces flight abrasion.
Under the same conditions, there is less copper fouling inside the multiradial barrels, which means less cleaning is required. And when cleaning is required, it is easier than with conventional trains. The user can further improve the performance of the multiradial barrel by simply applying abrasive paste, without fear of ruining the barrel as can be the case with the traditional profile.
