Der Ruger 'Redhawk' Revolver ist der erste Revolver der speziell für das starke Kaliber .44 Magnum entwickelt wurde. Der Rahmen ist entsprechend dimensioniert. Charakteristisch für diesen Double Action Revolver ist das von unten eingesetzte Schlosswerk im beidseitig geschlossenen Rahmen. Die Trommel ist vorne und hinten im Rahmen verriegelt. Die 'Super Redhawk' ist für die Verwendung einer Optik konstruiert, zum Lieferumfang gehört serienmäßig eine Ruger Aufkippmontage mit 1' Ringen (außer 'Alaskan' Ausführung).
