The MCX is not just another 0-8-15 rifle based on the AR-15. Sig Sauer has reworked this modular weapon system from the ground up and redesigned it in parts.

The MCX is an indirect gas-operated piston system. The upper receiver has been redesigned and has a long 320mm Picatinny (1913) rail. It is no longer necessary to use an angled mount to mount a riflescope.
The upper receiver has other interesting design features:
For example, the rifle does not have a classic buffer tube and recoil buffer in the buttstock. In the MCX, these were installed below the loading lever (internal recoil system). This allows the stable adjustable recoil pad to be realized.
The recoil pad is attached to the rifle by means of a Picatinny rail and can be removed.
The loading lever can be operated from both sides and is locked to the receiver by spring pressure. Here, Sig Sauer has also inserted two hardened metal pins in the locking area so that the upper receiver does not "wear out" in this area even after being operated hundreds of times.
The safety lever and magazine release can be operated from both sides.
The 11.5 inch cold hammer forged precision barrel in combination with the SIG Matchlite Duo Trigger ensure a clean and dry trigger feel and outstanding inherent accuracy.
The well thought-out free-float M-Lok fore-end, the aggressive muzzle brake, the flared magazine well in the lower section for quicker magazine changes and the flip-up sights with adjustable rear sight complete the picture of this unique self-loading rifle.

Of course, this rifle is exempt from sport shooting according to §6 AWaffV para. 2!
